Artist-Led Works
Premiering during Black History Month 2025, CALYPSO is a celebration of movement, culture, and heritage. Directed by Chynna Mills in her debut dance film project, this piece recognizes the foundational influence of African and Latino cultures in shaping the language of rhythm and motion. Inspired by the 1958 film Calypso, the work seamlessly blends dance, flag artistry, and color guard movement, bringing a dynamic fusion of storytelling to the screen.
Set to Harrison by Alxndr London, CALYPSO has evolved from a Masterclass in Movement into a dance film and stage production. This journey embodies the essence of Melanin Mosaic’s motto—Celebrating Culture, Inspiring Creativity—and we are honored to support the vision of Ensemble Member Chynna Mills, operator of Mills Movement, as she brings this powerful piece to life.
